Todays blog post is a fun update. A few month back I compete in my first office Jiu Jitsu tournament. The International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation or IBJJF to be exact. I was prepare for battle and convince I would get the victory, but my opponent didn’t show, so I won by default, Kind of lame but I trained hard and will not discredit my attempt to compete. A Win is a Win!
A few months back I competed in my second office Jiu Jitsu tournament in New Jersey. This was Jiu Jitsu World League New Jersey Open. This time my opponent show up and we went to battle. It was best of three rounds, I secured the first round with a large lead in points and manage to Submit with a few seconds left Via Triangle. This was an amazing experience. It was fun but also scary and a little anxiety inducing. However I had been training my mind for some time so it wasn’t bad. The stress on my body after 10mins of hard jiu jitsu however was more then I had imagined. I was wiped with exhaustion after the 1st match, I had doubt in my mind due to my physical condition, After 5 mins of rest I was able to catch my breath and control my fear, which was exactly why I wanted to compete in the first place. I wanted to be pushed to the edge, I wanted to feel the fear and control it. I was successful in doing so and manage to walk away with my hand rise. Im excited to do another tournament and push my physical and mental limits soon.
