Todays blog post is a personal recap of my progress on my short film FRANK. I have been chipping away at this film for about 8yrs. I try and keep track of my progress because I love data and its a good way to keep myself accountable. Below are some scans from the past few yrs. Each Yes or No is weather or not I worked on the film that day. Ive had some great months over the past years. However this year 2025 has been by far the most disappointing.
The reason for this is 2 fold, After years of consistency Im feeling a little burnt out on the project as it nears complicion. The other fold is I started the years working on a mural that took about 3 months and Ive been working on other projects since. So the film has been on back burner. After years of animation I wanted to work on other things and so I’ve been ok with letting the project stagnate a little. Im hoping to keep myself more accountable in 2026 and to finally close the chapter on this film. I’ve already committed to another giant project for the coming year, and so its giving me motivation to wrap up FRANK. Stay tooned for updates!
2019 results. This was the 1st year I started using this system, I do not have much accurate date for the previous years of work, however this was the year I started animation on the project. Previous years where just pre production. Total Final was in the Positive 215 Yes 150 No
2020 results Total Final was in the Positive 245 Yes 120 No
2021 results. Total Final was in the Positive 186 Yes 135 No
2022 results. Total Final was in the Positive 230 Yes 135 No
2023 results. Total Final was in the Positive 205 Yes 160 No
2024 results. Total Final was in the Positive 186 Yes 178 No
2025 results. Total Final was in the Negative 108 Yes 256 No.
As mention before this was my worst year but so far its only the first negative year Ive has since starting the project. So all things consider Im doing better then I thought.
The Planner I get is from the store called MUJI. Its a great store with lots of cool office supplies. Ive been using their size B5 planner for years and I highly recommend it, my favorite part about it is the 365 days spread. Perfect for tracking anything you feel like.
