Todays blog post is a new Mural I recently completed, This Mural was for my Jiu Jitsu gym Unity of Valley Stream. I started working on it a few weeks back and it took about 8 weekends to finish. I was working 2-3hr on Saturday and Sunday for about 4 weekend. Below are screen shots of the process. I didn’t document to much of the start but towards the end of the project I was able to get most of the process.
Sharing the ladder
So my coach knew I was an artist and after seeing some of my other mural art he ask if I could paint the gym motto on a wall and I said I would love to. He wanted “Hard Work By Good People” in one line across a large wall. I knew it would be hard due to the fact I’ve never done large text before but Im confident in my abilities and so I started. It took about 3 sessions to get all the worlds in place and another 2 to mask them, each session about 2-3hrs long.

While I did have to end up making corrections after removing all the tape, Im still happy with the outcome considering all the challenges I had to overcome. The biggest one being the size and location. It was really high up and not being able to step back more often was a problem. I will say the project humbled me, I still have a lot to learn as an artist but this being only my 2nd mural I cant beat myself up to much. If I could do it all over I know I would nail it but isn’t that what we always say to ourselfs…
