Todays FRANK update is the start of a new scene. I wrapped up the last scene a few days ago and have been setting up the new file for my next scene to color. This scene is where Frank is watering his pots and we are introduced to the game. Its a very long scene, just a bit longer then the last one, however the movement is very minimal which will allow me to make progress rather quickly. Enjoy the beginning of this scene!

Hello! Todays production update is one I been working on for a while. I finally finished coloring this scene and have begun to composite it. Its about 11 seconds long with holds. The scene was 41 frames not accounting for holds and took me over 2 months to complete. I have been really consistent these past few months and im super happy i can finally move on to a new scene. I learnt a lot from this scene due to it having many moving parts

Its been few weeks since the last update, so here is a quick peek into the process so since we last spoke.

I been working on long scene for a few weeks now, this scene when FRANK smells his flowers at the window is about 42 frames. Each frame has about 3-4 layers and so its taking some time. I have found the rhythm after the first few frame so the moral is high with this scene, especially since I just passed the half way mark. The last scene was just as long but i overcame that one and going into this scene i knew it would be very similar. However I was aware that it would be rough at first but i would find my rhythm and before i knew it i would be finishing up the scene and exploring the file. I am happy to say im still in high spirits and might have even caught a second wind, stay tooned for more updates

Todays blog update are some frames from the current scene I am coloring. I am almost ready to export and composite the animation, the back ground however is a different story, there is still some things left to tighten up before Im confident with marking it done.

This scene our big guy FRANK is coming from off screen and he is walking towards the window, this scene was a lot of fun to draw, it was a little challenging due to the perspective walk, but since its a 3/4 back shot its wasn’t to difficult once I shot some reference.

Todays FRANK update is a few color frames. The first frame is what im currently coloring, its about 17 frames long. The next two frames are older color test, with pen lines and with outlines. I want a lineless look and i have done a few color test inorder to see the movement in color.

I continure to color daily, I have roughly 33 scenes and im about 4 or 5 scene into color

Happy new year to all. Todays production post is a still from my color script. Before the end of 2021 I was working on putting together a color script for the film. It took a few weeks but I finally finished it and have started coloring scenes. The image below is not a final color, some of it is subject to change but the final look will pretty much look like so.

Hello! it’ss been a minute but Im still chipping away! This blog post is a color study on the opening scene. I have drawn this background many many time’s but I have yet to find the right one. I recently started working on it again, this time around Im liking what I have, it feel’s stronger and more fitting then the previous ones.

This scene will have a day time and night time, so I been playing around with colors. The blue and black skies will remain but Im still not sure on the layout.

Todays FRANK update are some color studies for the big crying scene. I have been working on coloring some scenes hoping to find FRANKs visual style. Color is super important and from the beginning I had some sure ideas of what colors I was going to use. Over the last few months I have been putting together mock color scenes trying to find the films final look. Im very happy to say as the days go by i am more and more confident in what the film will look like. This crying scene is one fo the longest in the film, over 100 frames to color! Send me your good vibes!

For this scene I want to experiment with the BG, FRANK is hurting and so I want to remove him from his location and have him feel as though he is in limbo. So i been playing around with designs and colors. There is still much left to be done but im enjoying the process every day!

below are some really early production sketches. maybe from 2017-18, pre production for sure. i used animation paper for sketching because i enjoy the over size paper and i just have tons of it from my art school days. so rather then they collect dust i use them.

the images below are mostly thumbnail to a 1/4 the page. i was trying to find the right balance for franks apartment, what kind of plants he would have and how many, he also has art on his walls so i had fun coming up with those
